Printer-friendly version

The Sfinks Polska group, owner of the restaurant chains Sphinx, WOOK and Chłopskie Jadło, generated in the 1st quarter of 2013 the consolidated sales revenues of PLN 40.14 million compared to PLN 41.01 million in the 1st quarter of 2012. At the same time, from January to the end of March 2013, the group generated the consolidated profit on sales of PLN 4.5 million, which means an increase of the restaurant chains' profitability by 22% compared to the corresponding period of 2012. Besides, Sfinks’s consolidated result on operating activities for the 1st quarter of 2013 amounted to PLN (-)153 thousand, and the net result to PLN (-)1.58 million. This evidences a significant improvement in both the above categories – by 90% and 52% respectively compared to the first quarter of 2012.

Despite this year’s prolonged winter and the greater number of public holidays, we generated a gross profit on sales that was 22% higher compared to the first quarter of the previous year. What contributed significantly to this result were sales support activities and continued improvement of the chains' profitability, says Sylwester Cacek, President of the Management Board of Sfinks Polska.

The factors that influenced the generated result included the previously announced expenditure on marketing campaigns, among them the TV campaign of the Sphinx chain focused on the newly introduced menu.

The March advertising campaign aimed at promotion of novelties and increased recognition of the Sphinx brand, which is the strongest Polish catering brand according to surveys. Our plans assume continued media presence and further advertising campaigns, says the President of Sfinks.

In 2013, Sfinks Polska opened four new restaurants, two of them under the Chłopskie Jadło brand, and the other two under the Sphinx brand. They were all opened in shopping centers – Factory in Warsaw and Poznań, and Galeria Krakowska. Midway through the year, Chłopskie Jadło and Sphinx will be opened also in Galeria Mokotów in Warsaw. Other attractive locations already approved for this year include the City Center in Poznań and Futura Park in Wrocław, where the first free-standing Sphinx restaurant is now under construction. Further projects are at the stage of contract negotiation.
